NAME: Mini Paceman concept
DEBUT: 2011 North American International Auto Show
APPEARANCE: Best described as a three-door coupe version of the recently launched Countryman, the Paceman concept owes a great deal in terms of styling and architecture to the five-door production model. The sloping roof gives the Paceman a slightly sportier appeal but is less extreme than that of the Mini Coupe concept. If you’re not sold on the Countryman’s styling you’re unlikely to be a fan of the Paceman either, although arguably easier on the eye.
PREDICTION: When a concept model looks as suspiciously close to a production vehicle as the Paceman it’s often a sign that the announcement of a new arrival is imminent. The Mini line-up is ever-expanding and a production Paceman would slot neatly into the niche sector created by the Nissan Juke, soon to be joined by the Range Rover Evoque. Don’t be surprised to hear an announcement in 2011.
