Red Card Rage

We don’t think this Sunday league footballer came up with the best solution when he drove his car at a referee after being sent off the pitch with a red card.

28-year-old Joseph Rimmer was so angry about the decision he got into his car and tried to run down referee David Harkness. Luckily Mr Harkness leapt to safety and avoided injury.

Philip Tully, defending, said: “He drove onto the pitch in an attempt to get the match abandoned. He understands this is a serious matter. What happened was highly unpleasant.”

Rimmer, who admitted affray, was bailed and is due for sentencing next month.
