Just days before the VAT-man increases his levy by 2.5 per cent on January 4, 2011, Vauxhall has launched a promotion that it claims could save thousands of pounds with a VAT-busting discount on almost all its new models.
Named ‘Vauxhall Countdown’, the offer represents a 20 per cent discount off the list price, before options, on a range of Vauxhall’s most popular models and is available on new cars purchased between December 27, 2010 and January 31, 2011.
For example, opt for the firm’s Astra 1.4 (100PS) Exclusiv model and the on-the-road price drops by over £3,190. Choose the Agila range and savings start from £1,890,while buyers choosing the Corsa can save up to £3,400 off the on the road price, depending on model.
Commenting on the promotion, Peter Hope, Vauxhall’s Marketing Director, said: “We’re committed to reducing the pain of the latest VAT rise as much as possible.
“Vauxhall Countdown is a no-nonsense 20 per cent discount that applies across almost all models in our range. It has instant appeal for all our customers and makes ownership of some of our latest, award-winning cars even more attractive than before.”
