DEBUT: 2011 Geneva Motorshow
APPEARANCE: The FT-86 II has a bold, muscular design with a low, aerodynamic bodyshell and its long, low bonnet, high wings and a rear-set cabin all pay homage to Toyota’s sports car history. There’s a large spoiler at the rear and strips of LED daytime running lights at the front. It is clear to see that this is a driver-oriented concept and Toyota say that it marks a return to the passion for driving that has inspired great Toyota cars of the past.
PREDICTION: The FT-86 II Concept hints at the final design of Toyota’s next sports car. This is the latest stage in the development of a new, compact rear-wheel drive sports car that is being jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru. Toyota say that the FT-86 sports car will go on sale in 2012.
